Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a fee to join a program?

Except for Wildcat Friends, Friends in Action programs are free. Participants are expected to purchase their own movie ticket and are charged $7.50 to cover bowling expenses. Participants are also charged $10.00 to cover food expenses in Cooking Club. Each year Friends in Action sends out an annual giving letter in the fall and has a spring fundraiser. Families are encouraged to give as generously as they can in order to keep Friends in Action going.

Do I need to stay with my child at the events? Can I stay if I wish?

Parents do not have to stay with their child at events. However, Friends in Action does not provide 1:1s. If a participant needs a 1:1, it is the family’s responsibility. Family members are welcomed to stay at events if needed.

Who will be responsible for my child at an event?

Friends in Action staff is responsible for your child, unless they come with a 1:1. Then the 1:1 is responsible.

Are events organized by age ranges or gender?

All Friends in Action events are for people ages 15-40.

What happens if there is a cancellation?

Friends in Action wants everyone to be safe, we follow WMURnews reports and make the safest decision for everyone. If Friends in Action dose choose to cancel, the website will be updated and emails will be sent out. Cancellation decisions can be hard, but we do not want our friends to be in a compromising situation. Friends in Action will cancel if it’s too hot to hold an activity or if the weather causes driving difficulties.   Please check the calendar for cancellations and/or check email.

Does Friends in Action provide transportation?

Friends in Action does not provide transportation. Many families carpool, but this is not organized by Friends in Action.
